Welcome to the Shasta County, California history site
Hello. My goal is to make this site an interesting and easy-to-use Shasta County history resource. It will be about all things related to Shasta County history. New information will be added frequently.

I love taking photographs and will post many of them here on the website. The above photo is one of my favorites of Castle Crags, and it almost didn't happen. I took it on a whim standing next to the historic Engle's Inn located beside the Sacramento River (you can see a portion of the river on the right side of the photo) at Castella.
Did you notice Mount Shasta in the logo banner at the top of my website? Are you wondering why I chose to place a photo of Mount Shasta on my site when the mountain isn't even in Shasta County? I decided it was worthy of being placed there since Shasta County took its name from the town of Shasta who took its name from the mountain. Back then, Mount Shasta was inside the boundaries of Shasta County; however, a few years later the boundary lines changed and Mount Shasta became part of Siskiyou County.
