Mission:To keep a watchful eye on historic buildings, places, and objects to make sure they are kept safeand free of trespassers, vandalism and graffiti. |
We are a group of thirty-seven volunteers who are interested in preserving and protecting Shasta County historical buildings, places, and objects. We organized in 2008 soon after vandalism occurred at the adobe site of pioneer Major Pierson B. Reading.
We've all "adopted" one or more historic places to monitor at least once a month. If we find that improprieties or damages have occurred, we immediately call the proper authorities.
Our group is unusual because we don't hold monthly meetings nor do we pay dues. Instead, we have an annual get-together held at one of the historic sites watched by a club member.
We are proud to announce that our HISTORICWATCHDOG group now has thirty-seven (37) watchdogs watching forty (40) historical sites/places throughout Shasta County.
